Racing thoughts. A tight chest. Nights without sleep. Panic that seems to come out of nowhere. With anxiety the body goes first, and then the mind tries to explain the fear. I work with men and women by secure video anywhere in California on calming the body and quieting the worry.

What anxiety looks like

In the body:

  • A racing heart or tight chest
  • Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep
  • A stomach in knots before ordinary events

In the mind:

  • "What if" on repeat
  • Expecting the worst outcome
  • Trouble switching off, even when things are fine

In your life:

  • Avoiding calls, meetings, driving, or crowds
  • Snapping at the people closest to you
  • Being worn out from holding it together

What a panic attack is

A panic attack is a sudden wave of fear with strong physical signs: a pounding heart, shortness of breath, shaking, dizziness. It peaks within minutes and feels far more dangerous than it is. Many people go to the emergency room the first time. If you have chest pain or trouble breathing and have not been checked by a physician, do that first. Then therapy can help with what comes next: the fear of the next attack.

How we work on it

  1. Calm the body first. Breathing and grounding skills you can use anywhere, in under two minutes.
  2. Understand the loop. How a body signal becomes a frightening thought, and how that thought feeds the body.
  3. Talk back to fear. Practical ways to test the worst-case story against the facts.
  4. Take back ground. Step by step, we return to the things anxiety has been taking from you.

You learn tools to use between sessions, when the wave hits. The aim is a calmer nervous system and a clearer way to talk back to fear, not a promise that panic never returns.

How anxiety affects a marriage and family

Anxiety makes a person irritable, tired, and hard to reach. A spouse can read that as distance or anger. Children notice the tension. When you get steadier, the whole home feels it.

What a first session is like

Book with Mark. Your insurance is checked before the session. We meet by secure video from anywhere private: home, the office, or a parked car. You tell me what brought you in. Before we finish, you will have one tool to use that week.

Common questions

Can therapy help anxiety without medication?

For many people, yes. Therapy teaches skills that calm the body and change the thought patterns that feed anxiety. Some people also use medication. Both paths are welcome here. As a therapist I do not prescribe, and I can work alongside your physician.

How do I know if it is a panic attack or something medical?

You cannot tell by feel alone. If you have not been checked by a physician, start there. Once medical causes are ruled out, we work on the panic itself.

How long does anxiety therapy take?

It varies by person. Many people notice a difference once they have a few skills they trust. We check progress together as we go.

Can I do sessions from my car or office?

Yes. Any private place in California with a good connection works.

Do you take insurance for anxiety therapy?

Many major plans are accepted. Use "Check my insurance" to find your plan and book. Private pay is also available.
